Well, just about five months away from the world of blogging and not much has happened or maybe not much exciting. I guess it depends how you look at it.
In April, I made an appointment with the pediatrician to talk about Jaelon showing signs of Autism. I walked into the office with the expectation that my feelings were right, I walked out of the office feeling numb because I was right. Go figure! Suddenly all those little quirks that make Jaelon, well Jaelon, seem to make a little more sense. So now what do I do, where do we go, what does this all mean?? Not to mention a ton of other questions floating around. His Dr's answer: put him in daycare and wait. The wait lists are long and if he's in childcare he will get a round about way of help....
I'm sorry but a "round about way" and "wait"???? Alright, I'm very pro daycare and will always be but hearing those words just didn't sit well with me. That and the few daycares I looked at, I wasn't happy with and I'll leave it at that!
It's been a battle since then, mentally and emotionally. We have great days, tons of fun, lots of baking, outside as much as possible. Then there are those moments of losing it and it all goes downhill from there, sometimes it can last a few minutes other times a few hours, the whole day or even go for a whole week or more. It's the great days that make it easier! Yes, he's somewhere on the spectrum of ASD but I know it could be a lot harder than it is. He's made waves with his speech this past year and is incredibly bright so when I say I know it could be a lot harder, it really could be. I'm thankful it's not, it's tough enough as it is but I'm in it with everything I have. He is mine, I'm his and I have to be his voice. That all said, my voice was finally heard and we have his final assessment in December! Wait lists suck, the key is persistence!!!!
We stuck close to home for most of the summer but did have a great time meeting up with the Ontario branch of the special Mama's group I'm apart of, I know I've mentioned them once or twice! That was such a great day, I'm sure we'll be planning another meet up again. Other big summer news, Jaelon is half potty trained!!! We're still working on the pooping but I'm happy with the progress he's made.
And that was our summer!!!!! Sorry to just end the post, time got away and now we're running late. Figures!!

Feeling inspired....
It's no secret that these past few months I've been working to get back into shape. I will admit that this month I've slacked off but not totally given up. I know I've slacked off with blogging but that's for another day!
Just recently I've become re-inspired by all of my mommy friends, yes I'm talking about that wonderful group of mommies most I have yet to meet. We have banned together once again with full support as we embark on our weight loss journeys. It is such a great motivator and I believe that we will all meet our goals.
That being said, it's this new inspiration that has me thinking. Why are we so hard on ourselves? I feel I'm hard on myself because that pushes me to continue this journey but I know that may not be the case for others. Perhaps, it's not the best way to push myself but that's how I do it. Another question for you, can we really ever be satisfied with our own bodies? I know I have a long term goal but I often question myself with what happens when I reach it? Will I in fact be totally satisfied with my outer image? Better yet, will I have that power to never again have to be "in a year of back to healthy?"
Unanswered questions for now and for now I continue down my back to healthy road. A road that has become a little more enjoyable as I have a bunch of beautiful mama's to share more of my journey with. So here's to my mommy group, we may be our own worse enemy but with all the support coming from eachother I hope that changes. I've been re-inspired and I look forward to seeing everyone head down their own back to healthy road.

Well that was April!
I know, I know, major lack of posts from me.... AGAIN! I really do need to keep up with blogging.
I can't believe I have a 3 year old! Jaelon's birthday was a big hit, he didn't even cry when I used the singing birthday candle this year. In fact, he absolutely loved it!! I won't go into how sick I was that weekend. I didn't go all out for Easter, but he did have a few egg hunts that he wasn't at all interested in. He's found a new love for chocolate mini eggs though and he can't get enough, good think he doesn't get them that often!
He's been diagnosed with Mild Autism. Maybe not truly official (not from a developmental pediatrician but from his pediatrician) but it's official enough for me. Now it's just a matter of getting everything moving in the right direction, hopefully by the time he gets in school, we'll be ahead of the game. Now all of his little "quirks" make more sense. I know it's going to be a long process with having to wait but I'm hopeful and will take the necessary steps to get my boy everything he needs.
New recipes tried this month:
Grilled salmon with Cucumber salad -- so technically I tried the cucumber salad a few months back and it's a big hit with Jaelon. The salmon, I had planned on trying this specific recipe. But I went with this which was great! I should also say, that was my first time doing fresh salmon on the barbecue.
Honey sesame chicken -- Pretty much just like honey garlic chicken, just not as much garlic (I guess!!) it was super easy, tasted great and will be a regular. But it's honey, who doesn't like honey?
Ginger chicken -- A Weight Watchers recipe. This one will stick as a regular!!!
This hasn't been the greatest month for "my back to healthy" only 1 pound lost and I'm pretty sure NO inches. In all fairness, I've sort of been slacking in my workouts. Oh, I still work out but it hasn't been as hard core like it has been prior months. I'm giving myself a shake and getting back to kicking my own ass. May is my month!!!!!
Now if the nice weather would make it's appearance and perhaps stick around for a while, that would be wonderful. I hope this finds you all well, where ever you may be!! I will be around more, after all May is my month, right??
CHEERS!!

Birthday weekend and one sick Mommy
Who is thinking of being sick when you have a birthday party to get ready for? Not me, that's for sure. I was so unbelievably peeved when I woke up Friday morning feeling like.... well I think the best way to put it is, there's 50ft of crap than there was me. Any plan I had was pushed aside, the tv stayed on, I laid on the couch, Jaelon played and thankfully didn't get into any trouble and that was our Friday. Our cousin Alexis came Friday evening to sleep over, oh was I ever thankful!!!! I felt kind of bad but she was a REALLY BIG HELP, this mama was able to take a half sick day Saturday morning. I finally got some daytime cold stuff in me, still had a major headache but at least I was functioning better than I had been. I was able to do a half ass cleaning and help Alexis make Jaelon's birthday cake. She really did most of it, there was just no way I was going to be baking anything when I'm struck with a cold. Ugh, the thought is just gross!
Sunday was party day! It turned out to be such a great day, even with a bunch of people not coming. It worked out the number of people was just perfect, it had been raining so there wouldn't have been anywhere to spread out the crowd. Jaelon choose not to have a nap so he was quite tired halfway through the party. He still had a blast, excited to do a craft and actually willing to open his gifts!! He's been talking about his birthday non stop now. I'm so happy he had a great time and seemed to understand a little more about what was happening. He so far hasn't gotten sick and hopefully he stays that way!!! I'm still suffering but manageable, which IS better but not great.
Until tomorrow everyone!

Not so wordless Wednesday~ Happy Birthday, Boy-o!!
Is there anything greater than becoming a mother?? Knowing you have a little person growing inside of you, it's wonderful, it's amazing and you're instantly in love. I'm not even talking about the day this little person makes their appearance, when that day happens, all that love has now bubbled up four times more. Life as you've known it, now ceases to exists, everything you do from here on in, is all about this little person. That day happened for me 3 years ago today!
Enjoy the day!
(Technically it started the day before) After a three week stay in the hospital with daily ultra sounds, on April 10 I was told my placenta completely shut down, I was induced and in great pain. I spent the whole day waiting for something to happen, baby was doing just fine so no rush to get him out. The family all rushed to be with me and still in a lot of pain, only to find out that pain wasn't labour pains (ddefinitely a FML moment!) So the waiting continues, the pain continues and I want baby OUT already! Jaelon was born via C-section on April 11, four whole weeks early. His sugars were very low, his iron wasn't great and he spent only a week in the NICU before I was able to bring him home.
Today.... today...(I need a little minute) oh today, my preemie boy is a whole 3 years old. Yes, THREE! I can't believe it.... can I just freeze time? I mean just for a little while! I know, I know, you can't freeze time *insert playful eye roll!* Since we've established time can not be frozen, I am excited for boy-o to wake up this morning. He's getting his big present today and one new outfit, they are wrapped and sitting by the stairs so it's the first thing he'll see when he comes up. I'm probably more excited than he is, though we have been talking about his birthday and that he will be 3. We've even been singing happy birthday so when he has his party, he won't cry and get scared like he has the last 2 years!! We'll see how that goes. The rest of our day is crazy busy, I don't think nap time will even happen, why did I book any appointments today? Oh well!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JAELON!! Mommy loves you soooo much!!
Enjoy the day!

And that was March!!
Apologies for the major lack of posts this month. Not that we were overly busy but a week or two of nice weather was just to hard to resist. We spent a lot of time outside and when Jaelon was napping I was still outside, usually just reading and ignoring the cleaning that needed to be down inside!!
New recipes this month: Skinnytaste cheese fries, was a big hit and so simple. I didn't go all out with the cheese, I used what I had in the fridge which was a skim milk cheese and I used low fat sour cream for a dip. It still was a hit and I'll probably make them again. Also Barbecue pineapple chicken, turned out great and again so easy. Jaelon liked the sauce as long as there were no pineapple chunks! I believe there was one more but memory escapes me (as usual!) We didn't bake once this month so we are in need of a baking day.
I am now 3 months in to my back to healthy and I'm happy to say it's going strong!! Here's the low down:
End of January saw a weight loss of 11lbs,
End of February a weight loss of only 1lb but a considerable amount of inches gone
End of March a weight loss of 8lbs.
Bringing my total to a whopping 20lbs lost!!! I have reached my first goal and I'm so happy and excited, I hope the next 20 come off just as easy. Though I admit February was a tough month. It's hard not seeing that scale go down but I'm happy the inches came off. However, I really do need to see the scale move down.
Well that was March, for the most part.
Jaelon's birthday is in April so I'm planning away for that. Time has moved so fast, I can't believe he'll be 3 years old. Only a year left and he'll be in school... But I don't have to think about that yet!!
Enjoy the weekend, where ever you may be!

Week in review
Wow, the lack of posts from me this week! I love spring and all that it brings, birds chirping and flying around like they're crazed, seeing some green come up in the gardens, buds on the trees and most importantly not having to wrestle my now preschooler into a freaking snowsuit!! I think that last one is my absolute favourite part, incase you didn't catch that! Good bye to the 20-30 minutes of getting ready before we head out the door, at least for the next few months.
This week, has seen many tantrums, MANY tantrums. You know the ones where the kids get their favourite toy taken away or shoes/ sweaters are taken off and now they don't get to go out or they just plain get sent to bed, no matter the time. Yes, THOSE tantrums have been seen frequently this week in my house. There were a few times where I thought it would just be so easy to give in.... but if you know me, you'd know I would rather pull out my hair, lose my mind and enjoy a glass of rum and coke. There is just no way this Mama is giving in to any type of tantrum! That being said, it is clearly time for some away from Mommy time. Jaelon is off to Grandma's this weekend for a sleepover and I have planned to do a whole lot of nothing, I really can't let the apparent nice weather go to waste so I'll go as far as the backyard. NO, I'm not even going to spring clean outside!
I did do most of my cleaning yesterday and will finish that off today so I really will have nothing to do for the weekend. I can sit and read or work on Jaelon's blanket I'm making (still), I can sleep in (I don't think my body knows what that is!) Most importantly I don't have to cook, I'll eat a nice cold turkey sandwich for dinner!! I will still wake up and work out, I'm just kicking ass in that department, feeling good about myself again, sticking to my Back to healthy! Which reminds me it's weigh in day, today. I'd better go check in with my Mama friends!!!!!!
Enjoy the weather and the weekend, I know I will.

My Guilty Pleasures!
Two of my mommy friends posted about their guilty pleasures. I'm sure they won't mind if you check out their guilty pleasures here and here! Now, what are a few of my own guilty pleasures??
Those are the my guilty pleasures! What are some of yours?? (I know you have some!)
- Baking (by myself!) Something about following a recipe and turning those exact ingredients into something so tasty, delectable and probably bad for you that just puts me at ease!
- Modern Family and reruns of Will and Grace!!
- CHOCOLATE! the more the better (I've been good with holding back these days.)
- Giving away those delectable and probably bad for you baked goods :D (don't get me wrong, I keep some of the baked goods but it's better to give a good chunk away)
- Bedtime!

And that was February!
Two months into the new year and it seems to be flying by!
Keeping up with Back to healthy 2012, I made it through Jillian's Ripped in 30! I cursed her most of the time but I did it. I didn't reach my goal of losing 5lbs for February, I did lose 1lb and I now know I've lost inches! Yes, I still have not picked up a measuring tape so I'm not sure how many inches but since my jeans are looser and my one fave pair of jeans can now be zipped up, I know I've lost inches!!! I've started doing this hip hop dance cardio dvd, I don't know the girl that does it but it was only 5 bucks and it does what I want it to so that's all that matters!
February also saw Jaelon's eye surgery, everything went well, he wasn't super sick afterwards and his eye is healing nicely. It is also doing what it is suppose to and I have to do eye exercises with him just to keep both eyes strong.
New recipes this month, Sweet & Sour Chicken and a version of Crispy chicken. I REALLY need to write these things down, I know I did a few more new recipes. Oh well!!!
We also just this week met up with an April (Awesome) Mommy and her kids!!! It was a good time, Jaelon had a blast at The Children's Museum but he's still not into playing with kids, but it was so nice to meet and hopefully we'll be able to do it again!
Now we're a month off from Jaelon's 3rd birthday and he's still not potty trained :(
Potty training, how I loath you.
As always, thinking of an April (Awesome) Mama and keeping her in our prayers.

To a Special Mama
I've been filled with sadness, sadness for a friend, a friend I have yet to meet but have known for 3 years. I can not even begin to imagine the pain she is going through, to lose a child, a child that didn't have a chance to see life.
I guess I really should be saying that OUR Group, the wonderful group of April (Awesome) Mama's hearts have been filled with sadness. As one of our Mama's had to say good bye to her baby, born to the arms of heaven. There were many tears being shed across the country this past weekend, when our friend updated us that Baby Jacob was born to heaven. It is just unfair, life can be unfair and there are no right words to say. I wish there was something to say that could bring some comfort, something to make her pain a bit less....
Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.
-Author Unknown When those we love have left this earth, we still can feel them near. We'll see a picture, hear a song, and it’s just like they are here. And when we call upon our faith, when we believe and trust, we know the ones we care about are always close to us.

(Nearly) Wordless Wednesday ~ Surgery edition!
The night before Jaelon's surgery, our friend dropped off a little care package for him!
The morning of surgery, Jello for breakfast!
Playing before, looking so cute and having fun with Papa!
Way to cute in his hospital gown!
Pretty tired and now drugged up, with only minutes to go!
Three days later, feeling super, we had a Mommy and Jaelon lunch date at the market! He loves Sweet potato fries :D

Second eye surgery!
This past Monday was Jaelon's second eye surgery. He was born with (I've always referred to as) a type of lazy eye, called Intermittent Exotropia, Here is a quick read up on it if you're interested. His first surgery was back in May 2011 and it was very rough sailing, this second surgery went nice and smooth. Such a drastic change and not at all what I was expecting but I was prepared this time so that may have helped a bit. He's recovered well, though not right back into his playful self, he was happy (except when it was time for eye drops!) and hungry!!! Yesterday, we went out and registered him for Parent & Tot gymnastics and swimming, had a quick visit with Papa at work and had a healthy and tasty lunch at the Market (A grilled chicken with goat cheese, roasted red peppers and spinach sandwhich with a side order of Sweet potato fries!) It was a great morning out. I'm quite excited for him to start the gymnastics class, how cute will he (and the other little 2-3yr olds) be rolling and tumbling into big pits filled with foam pieces and jumping on the trampoline? He should have a ton of fun!!! All things considering it hasn't been a bad week (I know it's only Thursday), I'm happy surgery is done and this is IT. Yes, he'll have to wear glasses somewhere down the road but we'll have no more surgeries to deal with, well at least no more surgeries on eye's anyways ;) It has been a pretty easy, somewhat quiet week with no plans but since he is doing so well, I think we will be at our playgroup tomorrow. It feels strange not doing much at all so it'll be nice to get out another day this week!

Weekend wrap up!!
It was a great and very busy weekend here, my niece, Alexa, was here for a sleepover. She came in Friday after school, I made a pizza dough earlier in the day and split it in half. She loved rolling out her own dough and putting her own toppings on. Jaelon got to do the same but had some help! Then of course it was bathtime after dinner or I should say a quick wash/shower. Here comes the BIG props and I mean HUUUGGGEE PROPS to the single mom's with more than one child!! I don't think that single mothers get enough credit but single mothers with more than one child, WOW a big round of applause to you! I am thankful for my one, I am really thankful that I feel complete and done (95% of the time). I'm also really thankful that IF for some reason I start to think "oh I could do one more child" I get to spend the weekend with just Alexa and Jaelon, putting that little thought right out of my head!! Yes, it was a super busy but wonderful weekend. Single mama's to more than one, I'm sure you're doing a great job, I'd salute you if that weren't weird!!!
Saturday, was our busiest day, we went to a kid's workshop and did a super, ultra fast pick up of things I forgot at the grocery store. Came back home, I did a quick clean up of the kitchen, we had lunch, Jaelon went down for a nap, Alexa and I made some cookies and some jello in oranges. I did put in a load of laundry, finished baking the cookies (I didn't even burn one batch!) I did the clean up from our baking extravaganza which by then it was time to get started on dinner and make sure Jaelon was awake from his nap. The kiddies had a fun naked spaghetti night, the cookies were a nice desert and snack before bed. I was ready to drop of course!
Sunday, we had bacon and eggs for breakfast, usually one of Alexa's favourites but of course this time she wasn't to in to it. That turned into a bit of a tug and war, in the end I won!!! We got ready and headed out for church, we were late of course but we made it none the less. It was souper Sunday so we stayed afterwards, they said a sweet prayer for Jaelon and after a good extra hour we were back home again! It wasn't such a busy day, Alexa and I went for a walk in the cold snow, Jaelon was suppose to be napping and stayed behind with Uncle Ry. Alexa went home (eventually) and I enjoyed a Grammy party online with some Awesome Mama's!!!! LOL!!!
Today.... Today, is surgery day for Jaelon. He's having his left eye fixed this time, I'm as prepared as I'm going to be. I even slept a solid 5 hours, which was great once I finally fell asleep. So now here I sit, trying to enjoy some yogurt and granola, posting away about our weekend before I head down for my workout. I haven't done one for 2 days but I was busy, hopefully that counts as working out ;) Happy Monday!!!
It's Friday!! (week in review edition)
This week has been a week of baking. I know I should leave it for wordless Wednesday but I'm sure we'll be doing more AND I will remember to snap some pictures!! So enjoy a special picture edition of part of our week!
We had homemade pizza one night this week, not a weekly dinner but a favourite of ours!
Then I decided to pass some time and make some more cookies, we did oatmeal raison one day and chocolate chip another day!
Jaelon usually gets his own bowl with a little bit of ingredients so he can "mix, mix, mix" as he likes to say. (Really, he's eat, eat, eating!)
"Mmmmm so tasty!"
"mix mix mix!"
Jaelon's cookies, he spooned the dough out himself to bake the cookies.
Mommy's big cookie! No way was this staying in the house, we took it with us to share at playgroup this morning ;)
It was a great week, look forward to a busy weekend with my Niece sleeping over.
Enjoy the weekend!!

Wordless Wednesday- Baking is fun!!!
The first three shots are from our Christmas baking! It was the first time he was actually in to helping. The last shot, we were making pizza dough. For some reason Jaelon is quite into smelling things, hence the face full of flour!! Watch out Jamie Oliver, Jaelon's on his way ;)

Weekend wrap up
It was rather nice having the whole house to ourselves, just mommy and Jaelon this weekend. Although I did really miss adult conversation and felt a bit lonely, it was still a nice weekend. The weather was great, we went for a couple of walks, played in the backyard and did some baking! Yes, it was a great weekend!
It has me thinking.... time to move??? Why haven't I really made a strong effort to get back into my own spot? Jaelon is beyond happy, I have adult conversation and if I need some ME time for an hour, I don't have to plan it weeks in advance, also it's cheaper. Perhaps it is time to move or perhaps..... well, I don't know!! Having room mates does have it's disadvantages but there are many advantages. It helps when you get along well!
I finally received the information for Jaelon's surgery next week. He does have a cough still so I'm hoping that goes away and he'll be healthy in time. He'll miss his first Valentine's party so we did some baking to take to playgroup tomorrow and did some valentines crafts. Well that was our weekend, hope you got out and enjoyed the unbelievably nice weather OR the nice cold snow (wherever you may be!)

We're back to Friday!!!
This week has been full of the flu. Fun times, Jaelon caught the flu that's going around. Poor boy. I knew something was coming as last week he had that rash, Saturday was downhill. By Tuesday he was good to go, we headed out to playgroup where he had a good time as always, by the time we got home he was just wiped out. Yes, it was a rough couple of days.
Thursday, we headed out to visit my sister. Aside from a slight annoyance, it was a good day, Jaelon had fun and loves being in the car! Today, I think the little trip was a little to much for him just getting over the flu. He was quiet tired and now has developed a cough. We have a week to go before eye surgery for him so hopefully everything works its way out and he is completely healthy in time.
Well that was our week in a nutshell!! Enjoy the weekend :)

Weekend wrap up!!
After a mysterious rash covered Jaelon this past week, it had started to go away by Saturday so we spent the weekend at my mom's. Well, Saturday evening as Jaelon was going to bed (late) everything he consumed that evening came back up a few times. I know, as parents, we always feel bad for our kids when they are so sick, you understand what they are feeling, which of course is completely shitty. I felt so so bad for him, we weren't even home and couldn't just go back home. When I'm sick, I just want to be home and in my own bed. Granted we were just at Grandma's but you still want your own bed. Poor thing.
Thankfully, he was only puking sick that night, kept him away from milk and the like for the day on Sunday, he had a shower and by dinner time he was good to go! Short lived little bug whatever it was. Sunday dinner, at mom's was so good, I'm sure I gained back the wonderful 3 lbs I lost last week. Mom was in a Curry mood, she curried everything: fish, shrimp, pork, chicken. Yes, it was a curry feast and yes, it was damn good!! She even mentioned doing it every other week or once a month. You are probably thinking the same thing my sister and I were. Daaaammmmnnn curry every other week, OMG!!! There is no way I'm eating curry every other week or even once a month, I'm not getting up in the morning to "greet Jillian" just to turn around throw it all away for CURRY! (I don't care what anyone says, there is NO healthy curry and if you should find some, it's probably not good or worth eating!!) Super funny thing is, my mother meant doing a Sunday dinner every other week or once a month not curry everytime. PHEW!!!
We came home yesterday, just in time for dinner and just ate left overs! Today is playgroup day so I should be off getting ready to head out within the next 2 hours. Someone must be super tired, I've managed to finish this entire post in one sitting!! Looks like my daily workout will happen at nap time today.
Enjoy the day!!

It's Friday!!
Another week has gone by, it seems like January is flying by, perhaps a little to quickly. That means I'm that much closer to having a 3 year old :(
I'm still enjoying "back to healthy!" weighed in this morning, down another 3lbs which brings me to a total of 11lbs lost since January 1st!! Oh yeah, I'm super happy about that, reaching my goal of losing 10lbs a month. Hopefully I can keep that monthly goal going! I have been having a hard time trying to fit in working out, I've really enjoyed doing my workouts early in the morning before anyone wakes up. I can do that, shower, dress and have at least 20 min to sit by myself before Jaelon wakes and our day starts. The down side, I'm not one to eat as soon as I open my eyes so if I do a workout without eating, I struggle through because I don't have that energy. If I MAKE myself eat before, I end up feeling like I'm going to vomit half way through the workout. So this week, I've gotten up, MADE myself eat, sit/enjoy the quiet and wait for the mista to wake. I get him all set up and then jump in to my workout! He has started to really enjoy that time, he gets to sit on mommy's bed and eat berries, read books and drink milk! Oh I know what you're thinking, BERRIES in bed WOW how brave! Truth is he loves them so much, I really don't worry about it. Plus that's what washing machines and oxy clean is for ;) He may become my little personal trainer, our conversation this morning:
J: Mama, workout, exercise
M: Later, we're going to the library after breakfast.
J: (jumping, happy scream) WORKOUT!
M: How about we blast the music and dance while we change our clothes!
J: YAAY!
Gotta love being able to quickly distract them at this age! Though it didn't last long, while we were in the library he felt the need to scream out excitedly "WORKOUT, EXERCISE!" At least he's enjoying it, right!!!
The rest of our week has been the usual stuff going on, playgroups, playdates, crafting and baking. We made a batch of bread, took some to church for "souper Sunday" and a delicious coffee cake this week and took it to our smaller playgroup. It's been a pretty good week, I've tried a few new dinner recipe's as well. I really should write them down to keep track and post them to share. I'll have to go back now and look them up, so far another resolutions kept and slightly changed for the good!! Also had some very encouraging words from a friend, I've been thinking about things a lot since our kids playdate. Hope your week has been as good as ours has been.
Enjoy the weekend!

Thankful Thursday!!
YouTube!! On days when we are just at home, not much to do, I'll go to youtube and load up some videos, sometimes Jaelon will sit and watch, sometimes he's up dancing around. Depends on the video really! Here are some that get him MOVING, LAUGHING and JUST HAVING A GREAT TIME!! Trini roots shine through :D

Late weekend wrap up!!
This weekend we met up with my friend who is home visiting from Switzerland! Had lunch and walked around the mall. It just seemed like we were back in the day, doing our favourite thing... SHOP!! Naturally, we weren't back in the day, I have a little boy and she is married and we mostly window shopped!! It was nice to not be talking via email as we do, also nice to have someone else to walk around the mall with besides Jaelon. It was a good day, many hours later, Jaelon enjoyed himself and we both enjoyed a nice nap when we finally got home.
No weigh in for me last week, not that I've been cheating, it just didn't happen. I'm sticking to it, keeping everything on track, I have the sore muscles and a fridge full of fresh veggies and more healthy foods to prove it!!
Always thinking of my April Mama friend, going through this heartbreaking and very difficult time. Please say a good prayer for her.
Much love

For a special April Mommy
I had planned another post but today calls for a little something else.
Today's post, I dedicate to one of my April Mommies. We have known eachother for 2 and half years, maybe longer, we have not met in real life and yet I feel her sadness in a way. She found out her baby boy she is carrying is not fairing well at all. Many difficulties for this unborn baby and now she (and her husband) are faced with another difficult decision.
I want her to know, I'm sure she knows, that I'm keeping her in my prayers. Even now as I sit here to dedicate this to her, I can't seem to find the right words to say. Are there right words to say? Perhaps just sitting here, continuing this post lets her really know...
Our group has become so much more than just a "group." Aside from family, I can't imagine life without these Mama's. Which is why I just feel sadness right now, I can not imagine fully what this special mama is going through. After reading her news last night, Jaelon woke unexpectedly, I picked him up, sat in the rocking chair and we cuddled for a long while. Not something I normally do with him if he wakes like that. As we rocking, I couldn't help but think back to being pregnant with him. The stressful weeks spent in the hospital, being monitored everyday to make sure he was doing alright. It just seems surreal, now thinking about this mama and imagining she is feeling 20x's (or more) stress, sadness, grief.
Are these the right words to say??
I just want you know, you are not alone, I'm here for you, you are an Awesome Mama after all and WE are ALL here for you, that I know is right.
Much love, my Awesome Mama friend.

Thankful Thursday!
Today has been a super day, at least this morning has been super!! Tons of snow falling, perfect day to stay inside. I've been dedicated to getting up early and doing my workout, so far so good, weigh in is tomorrow. Fingers crossed, I'm hoping for at least another 2lbs gone!!!!
Back to this morning, with the snowfall, Jaelon and I had a nice time inside. I thought maybe we'd make some cookies, then realized we would have had to get bundled up and head out since the only ingredients I had were flour, eggs and milk. I guess we could've done peanut butter cookies but those aren't as much fun to bake. Instead, he helped scramble some eggs and put bagel's in the toaster! He still got to "make" so he was happy, he helped get the laundry together and vacuum too!! Then we spent a lot of time colouring, singing songs and playing hide and seek. Yes, it was a super morning!! No tantrums, listening ears ON, no cat pulling and no oatmeal for breakfast (I swear, he wants oatmeal everyday!) I am THANKFUL for today, today has just been great!! More than likely this afternoon we'll head outside, I think it's the perfect snow for a snowman. Since the dog is gone, we can go out back and enjoy the snow with no friggin dog poop, YAAAAYY!!!
Hope your day has been as good as mine ;)
Until tomorrow!

1. What is something you are working on to better in yourself? Right now, getting back to healthy. Everyone knows this or should know if you've been following my blog ;)
2. Favorite book? I don't really have a favorite book. I really enjoyed The Hunger Games series, which I just finished reading.
3. What is your dream holiday/destination? Trinidad, to see my family! Maybe one day I'll be able to take Jaelon!!
4. If you could write a "Dear 16 year old me" letter, what is one thing you would say? ONE THING? Do better while in school, you'll benefit from it in the long run!!!
5. If you could add 100 more dollars to your budget, where would it go? Probably groceries.
6. What is your least favorite time of day? Anytime of day that includes a tantrum!
7. What is your favorite blog? I can't pick just one, I have to go with ALL my April Mama's!!
8. What is one thing you are good at? Being a Mom
9. And something you are bad at? probably to much to list ;)
10. If you could relive a year over again, what year would that be? Maybe Jaelon's first year, hard to believe he was so small!
11. What are your plans for the rest of the day? Wake the boy, have breakfast, head to playgroup, lunch, nap for the boy, get dinner started.... we'll see where the afternoon takes us from there!!

It's Friday!
Early mornings have paid off!!! I wake up, get dressed in workout clothes and head to the dvd player for my daily workout. Yes, I feel great.... aside from the sore muscles but it's a good pain, that's what I tell myself! Weighed in this morning and I'm down 3lbs, YAY!
Today, I decided not to do the workout. I decided to completely rearrange the basement and make it livable again. Turns out it was a very, very big job! Jaelon was helpful in his own way, for maybe the first hour, then he was pushing to go upstairs and play. I ended up making a little picnic area for him, that lasted all of 10 maybe 15 minutes. Now that the day is done, I only have clothes to go through, laundry to do and put away. Sounds to me like a good job for tomorrow ;)
Going to be a fly by the seat of your pants kind of weekend, I'm sure it will be a good one! Hope you all enjoy yours :D

First week.... done...
This has been, it seems, a rather long first week of the New Year!! Probably didn't help trying to fight off a cold. So my back to healthy year started out pretty slow, I was blessed with a damn cold and then trying a cleanse on top of that wasn't working. I did manage to stick close to the cleanse but I will be doing it all over again this weekend. What a way to bring in the New Year.
It wasn't a very exciting week here, we got dumped on with snow, I felt horrible but still managed to take Jaelon outside so he could enjoy himself. Sadly, he only got outside to play once this week. I broke down and drugged myself of night time cold meds, slept very soundly two nights in a row and this morning woke up feeling great!!!! So naturally, I jumped right into the 30 day shred dvd. Yes, it kicked my ass, but it was a good ass kicking! (That's what I have to keep telling myself) I can say this now, that I am actually looking forward to getting up tomorrow morning and doing it again. I say that NOW but I'm sure I will be feeling it all to well then. Oh well, it has to be done!!
Having so much energy afterwards is a nice feeling, when Jaelon woke up we had a quick bite and went for a stroll. Hit the grocery store on our way back and stocked up the much needed fresh fruits and veggies. Oh I love having a little boy who loves eating fruit, of course if all fruits were berries he would be much much happier. But he does love other fruits too! As soon as we walked in the door he was asking for banana's and apples, I started to sing the Raffi song, he pulled them out of the bag and walked into the kitchen. Haha, mommy's trying to be smart!!!
No plans this weekend, I do have to get around to de- Christmas-ifying the house. I'm sure that will happen this weekend. The mista will be a bit unhappy to see his "lights" are being taken down but he'll get over it.... I hope! I could be taking them down right now..... meh, probably tomorrow! That being said, enjoy the weekend everyone ;)

Resolutions!
Yesterday I mentioned making and keeping some resolutions. My first and I'm sure everyone's first is to lose weight. Of course I want to lose weight, but I would much rather think of it as "back to healthy!" So the year of 2012 is my back to healthy year ;) I did buy the 30 day shred and need to buy an updated Pilate's dvd. Not that I think my old vhs one is bad but let's face it, it is a VHS!!!
We're into day three of the New Year, I have managed to keep up with my full body cleanse, I also managed to attract one nasty cold. You know the type, where it starts as a heavy head cold then instead of leaving, it works it's way through the rest of your body, type of cold. Yes, I feel like one big pile of crap. This morning seems to be the worst, I was completely winded just from going up and down the stairs this morning. I have to say, I don't think a full body workout would be my best idea. Figures, this is back to healthy year, it only makes sense that I start it off with a nice, tiring cold. I did do some stretches and found some Yoga on tv, that is my workout for the morning. It's better than nothing!!!
My next resolution is to try a new recipe a month. Some how I started this in December and I do have my wonderful, Awesome mommies group to thank! They all seem to cook up some great things for dinner, I was totally inspired to step it up! Okay, I admit it was half inspired and half embarrassment. Somewhere throughout the day, one of us will ask "What's for dinner?" Let me tell you, I realized pretty quick my dinners were pretty weak, LOL!! Ok moving on, in December, I did Orange Chicken in the crock pot. It turned out nice and tasty, a little to much orange but I know what to do for next time. I did my very first whole Chicken in the crockpot, yes I love my crockpot!! The last one I tried was Spaghetti squash, I've never been a squash eater but this is definitely a keeper!! I'm getting more into cooking, having a roommate that will eat anything makes it a little more enjoyable, Jaelon has a taste and then that's about it. So I have a few recipes that I've picked out to try, I'm not sure how many of them will get done in one month. But I'm aiming for two, I would like to do a new one a week but I'm keeping it real. If I can do 2 in a month, I'll be happy with that!!!! So nice to be back in the blogging world, this time with new goals to keep up to date!
Enjoy the day :)
