It's a transition
Today, he gets to spend all day at school, his E.A. even made arrangements for her afternoon student so she could spend all day with Jaelon. He's also going to be tired, as I sit here typing, I can here him chatting happily to his cars. Not sure why he's awake at this time but hopefully he goes back to sleep for a few hours. I'm up as usual, gotta work out but forgot to print off some stuff for him to take to school that I of course forgot about. So since I'm on the laptop, might as well blog and catch up. But that's enough procrastinating, time to get a boost for my day.
Before I head off, I have to send my big Congrats to my friend Reni and her hubby, welcoming their first child. Can't wait to meet him ;)
Keep well!!!

Changes, changes.... freaking changes!
Today, I post to you from my phone while sitting at the library! My last morning to myself, really. So excuse the typos ( should there be any)
Another change is upon us in the Baker house. Monday marks the first day of transitioning from school to I.B.I. our visit earlier this week, was not fun getting there but once he was, it seemed to be alright. However, he's pretty clear about wanting to stay at his school and not go to a new one. So I expect a lot more fun with this. Lol!
It's totally worth it in the end but getting there ( at least in the beginning) is going to suck balls!!! I feel bad for my boy, anyone who knows, knows what changes of any kind do. He's had a rough go of things since school started this year, A LOT of changes there and most of them unnecessary. However that's for another day. Now Mommy is coming in and adding to it. Oy! Hard not to feel sad but in the end it'll all be worth it.
How has he been feeling?? Confused for sure, sad definitely and mad! Though he can't really express that's how he's feeling.
How has mommy feeling?? Thank the goddesses for anxiety medication, one more morning to myself and working out!
So that's what's up with us for now. Single parenting, living with Autism at it's best. It's totally worth it, he's an awesome boy!!
Happy Friday, Everyone!! I think tonight will be a pizza and rum ( for mommy) night! Oh wait, he's off pizza and cheese these days... oh chicken wings... nope he's off that too.... well it'll be some kind of something I don't have to cook..... LOL!!

No thank you!
This year was the very first year Boy-o went trick-or-treating to more than 3 houses! I could barely keep up with him as he happily ran from house to house and was so polite.... even when he didn't like what someone was handing out. "I don't like that, No Thank You." and as he leaves (while the person looks completely shocked) "Happy Halloween, trick-or-treat" That was the best part of going out. At least he was polite. Love that kid!!
Tomorrow, we go for a tour of his "new school" to which he has happily said No thank you to as well... Should be fun!
"Mommy, can I come down to workout in the morning with you?"
(thinking to myself: 5 am is not kid time) "NO thank you!"
With that said, 5 am comes rather quick. bedtime for this Mama <3

It's here!
We talked about him starting "a new school" in a few weeks and everything is good. He'll "miss Mrs.S" and that's all he said.... well, that and when, where, who and then when, where, who again and again until I said I was all done ;) Everything is underway as of today and now it's time to prepare for another adjustment period. All though we're still going through adjusting to school.... It's been a bit of a gong show with school so finally starting I.B.I. couldn't come at a better time, really.
Let's just leave my feelings about school out of it, shall we.
In other news, to bring out a more positive side, I decided that he would get a very early Christmas present. Maple (Maple Syrup) the Parakeet joined our little family last week, he's been quiet for the most part but I imagine it's a huge shock going from a cage full of birds to a cage all by himself. Jaelon has been great, putting his hand slowly into the cage or on the cage and talking to Maple. He shoos the cats away if they come to close... or lays on Mr. Tripe, whichever works at the time for him. But definitely bringing a new pet into the house has been well received...... Well, if you're us and not a cat! The cats are intrigued and easily frightened, as soon as Maple flies around the cage they run away leaving behind the best sound ever, Jaelon laughing so hard!!
That's what's up with us for now. Swimming is good as always, enjoying the pretty warm fall as of late and all that jazz!!!!

Can you believe it??
We have spent a better part of the month trying new foods.... well not NEW foods but foods that "someone" just refuses and therefore making school lunches almost impossible... if not impossible at the very least super boring and he still won't eat them. So far it's a win with Hummus and Banana bread chocolate chip cookies
Mmmm those cookies didn't last long here. I actually missed a photo opt with the plate full of cookies and little bites taken out of them (ALL of them!). I know, I know... I missed taking a picture.
Aside from the food drama, he had his last week with his ABA Therapist, who got a new job, so that's been fun and now getting close to school starting to which he has said he's not going. You guessed it, that's been extra fun! It'll be all good soon so we're just coasting through and trying to enjoy what's left of the summer.
Hopefully one more round of blueberry picking in this week and a meeting at school to see his new classroom. That should help the getting ready for school part.
Other super exciting things in the world of Boy-o, his new race car bed. He LOVES it and of course the Lightning Mcqueen sheets to boot. Also, meeting his new cousin "B" who he happily calls the "dancing baby" after he suggested I put her away in a box when I was holding her. Good thing there are no more babies in my future ;)
I guess that was summer. How are you getting ready for back to school??

August already!
We've had a pretty good summer so far with lots of outside fun. This really has been Jaelon's best year, I could happy cry ALL the time. He's just such a different kid it's amazing, I'm so proud of him (and secretly me). It's such an incredible change that I can see but then I really see it when someone else mentions it. Another reason why this summer has been so great.
What has everyone been up to?? We went blueberry picking for the first time, it was a great day and hoping to get back. 9 1/4 lbs of blueberries..... How much do you think we have left? Two medium size freezer bags and that's it. Hopefully we'll make it back out for more, I haven't even done any baking with them.
A sad moment was selling our bike trailer. It's like the last of the "baby" stuff. Yes, I did cry.
Moving along... We also had a fantastic fun filled day at the Quarry, this was the first year he willingly went in the water, jumping off diving boards, swimming out to the raft and going down the slide. At one point he had an audience cheering him on every time he jumped off the diving board. It was such an amazing thing to watch, we're planning another trip there as well.
I'm happy to say that we've had a great summer, sad to see it come to an end but looking forward to school starting and hopefully his I.B.I. will officially start in the fall.
Until next time.

Cheers to the Summer!
I'm sure I have enough pictures from this year to make another "sleeping" book. Seriously, how this boy can fall asleep anywhere, is amazing.
We are still doing the Getting ready for I.B.I. and as of now he won't be starting the I.B.I program until October. I'm super happy he got to finish out the school year and I've decided that he will start SK in September. I talked with his LST the beginning of June and made sure he was going to have the same teacher and I hope the same E.A. but at least have consistency with one of them. A lot of changes are happening with his school moving to FDK next year but I'm on top of it.
His new big boy bike is still at Thames Valley and we should be getting it soon. I'm looking forward to him trying that out.
We have a few day trips planned for some summertime fun, look for pics in the near future!

He's FIVE!
Hard to belive my boy is 5. Five years have gone by so fast.
But I'm so happy to say that this is the first year that he was excited for his birthday and I mean EXCITED! So excited, I was so excited for him ♥
This year worked out, his actual birthday was on a Friday and his party would be Sunday. So I planned to decorate and leave everything up for the weekend, super excited to see his reaction in the morning (totally like Christmas morning). He would wake up to balloons all over his bedroom floor and come down to more balloons and the living room decorated and waiting for him amongst all that was his brand new "Big boy" bike. Oh boy, was he ever surprised and what a way to start your birthday!!
So his birthday started with a bang and was a busy day. His birthday dinner choice was lasagna, salad and "red" cupcakes. It was an I.B.I day, his lil buddy "K" was over for the day, I had to make a lasagna and his cupcakes. Thankfully I'm an early riser and got the cupcakes made before 8am so all I had to do was decorate them, which was done when he was doing his IBI activities and "K" was happy to join in the activities. So it all worked out!! The day was busy but my boy was happy and super excited and dinner was awesome (if I must say so myself!)
For his birthday party he asked for "a really good chocolate rectangle cake" so I made that and decorated it late Saturday night. Thankfully chatting to my sister on the phone. I forgot about him wanting party games "pin the tail on the bus" to be exact so around 1 am I was colouring and getting this bus ready. It turned out small but worked just fine. His birthday party was good, he was happy and super excited and managed to do so well with a house full.
This year's birthday was AWESOME and one of the best Mommy moments!!! Hard to believe I have a 5 year old ♥♥

Nearly wordless Wednesday!
With those for his class, we also stopped at the dollar store for him to pick out some fun socks for his teacher and EA and voila super cute "cupcakes" or "sockcakes" If you prefer. So anyone that knows me, knows I'm not wild on the actual day but I do a little something for Jaelon. Homemade, heart pizza!
Family day, we went to the Children's Museum with Papa and that's always fun for the kiddies so a good time for Jaelon. Nice way to end the long weekend!

Report card time!
I know in JK it's more a progress report but still *tear*
His report card was all so positive, a few areas he has issues with (no surprise) but that is just minor. The best part is he has started to interact with his peers and on his own!!! What's not to love about that?
In celebration of his first report card, he wanted to make pizza and have frozen yogurt for dinner. LOL! Pretty easy thing to come up with so my boy made his own pizza and had frozen yogurt for dessert. We also tried out making an eggless chocolate chip cookie dough, which turned out alright but not our favourite (if you can believe it!)
We had a nice family dinner on the weekend and everyone got to read his report. I love it and he was pretty happy when everyone praised him on the good job!!
I've seriously slacked off with the blogging and will do better from now on. I've actually been attempting to write this particular post for about a week, lol! Like it's such a chore... Oh well, on to then next post.

Where have we been??
Jaelon is loving the snow, so hard to believe since I hate the cold. Thank goodness for the little backyard, I've enjoyed sending him out back and I sit and enjoy a cup of tea while it's still hot! He's happy and I'm happy to watch him from the kitchen table. Works out well!
I am looking forward to this years Walk for Autism, I get to start planning a little earlier than last year so hopefully we can go a bit bigger this time around. Now I only have to sit down and start planning and fundraising. Jaelon's team did awesome last year with the short time we had (Thanks to everyone!), so you all know I'm pushing for a bigger goal this time. GET READY!!!!
Jaelon met his new eye doctor last week, that went surprisingly well... well... it was well, in the sense that he didn't lose it when the doc touched his head to look in his eyes (he didn't like it but he didn't freak out). He even sat in the chair by himself!!!! His eyes are great, still a chance he may need glasses down the road but otherwise everything eye related is great and he's not due back to the eye doctor for another 6 months.
Lastly, for some maybe not so exciting news, my back to healthy start has been a very slow process. I've done alright but haven't pushed myself. Time to step that up too.
Promise to be back to regular blogging! Hope this finds everyone well and keeping warm.
Cheers :D
