Back at it--- Let's catch up!

Well, just about five months away from the world of blogging and not much has happened or maybe not much exciting. I guess it depends how you look at it.

In April, I made an appointment with the pediatrician to talk about Jaelon showing signs of Autism. I walked into the office with the expectation that my feelings were right, I walked out of the office feeling numb because I was right. Go figure! Suddenly all those little quirks that make Jaelon, well Jaelon, seem to make a little more sense. So now what do I do, where do we go, what does this all mean?? Not to mention a ton of other questions floating around.  His Dr's answer: put him in daycare and wait. The wait lists are long and if he's in childcare he will get a round about way of help....
I'm sorry but a "round about way" and "wait"???? Alright, I'm very pro daycare and will always be but hearing those words just didn't sit well with me. That and the few daycares I looked at, I wasn't happy with and I'll leave it at that!

It's been a battle since then, mentally and emotionally. We have great days, tons of fun, lots of baking, outside as much as possible. Then there are those moments of losing it and it all goes downhill from there, sometimes it can last a few minutes other times a few hours, the whole day or even go for a whole week or more. It's the great days that make it easier! Yes, he's somewhere on the spectrum of ASD but I know it could be a lot harder than it is. He's made waves with his speech this past year and is incredibly bright so when I say I know it could be a lot harder, it really could be. I'm thankful it's not, it's tough enough as it is but I'm in it with everything I have. He is mine, I'm his and I have to be his voice. That all said, my voice was finally heard and we have his final assessment in December! Wait lists suck, the key is persistence!!!!

We stuck close to home for most of the summer but did have a great time meeting up with the Ontario branch of the special Mama's group I'm apart of, I know I've mentioned them once or twice! That was such a great day, I'm sure we'll be planning another meet up again. Other big summer news, Jaelon is half potty trained!!! We're still working on the pooping but I'm happy with the progress he's made.

And that was our summer!!!!!  Sorry to just end the post, time got away and now we're running late. Figures!!
